Should dating be scientific or spontaneous
Should dating be scientific or spontaneous? Do we need a strategy for dating or is it best to just be ourselves?
When you want to put a strategic plan in place the advice from a recent scientific study conducted says – ‘Aim high, keep messages brief, and be patient’. This study was conducted by using a google like algorithm to understand the desires of people wanting to match up.
Okay so I can agree that being patient is definitely a must, sometimes it takes a while for you to find the right one. In fact aren’t things that are worth it worth waiting for anyway? And keeping messages short is sometimes great advice too, no one wants to read an entire essay on your life history in your first message! But at the same time, I think the initial message does need a little substance even if it’s just asking about someones day.
Aiming high is also good advice although, what does aiming high really mean? Does that mean looks? Career? I think it can mean different things to different people in all honesty. But yes you should be going after someone that you really feel would fit with you. Don’t just go running after anyone that comes along or sends you a message. If you don’t feel like it’s the right person, it probably isn’t going to work out.
But is the scientific strategic approach really a good way to go about it? Is it even necessary? Surely that’s missing the point of finding someone who likes you for you. Wouldn’t you lose some of your own personality becoming too strategic? I think some of dating has to come down to good luck and finding the person you’re meant to be with when the time is right. Although it may feel like he or she is taking too long to arrive sometimes.
What about the older generation?
Just because you’re over 40 doesn’t mean you can’t internet date, there are websites specifically for senior dating. Whether after a divorce or loss of a loved one it’s never too late to find the love of your life. Online dating has some great benefits and is a great way to dip your toes in the water again. There is little pressure and you can find new people in your area from the comfort of your own home.
You could end up meeting the next love of your life from your computer. With online dating there is no going to events or going out to bars to meet people and is particularly great if your busy with work or other commitments. You get to chat to someone before you make the commitment of going out for your first official date and you can get to know someone before actually meeting them.
